Laughing Matters

Joke of the Week: The Difference Between Boyhood and Manhood is 8 Calories

Life in a developing nation is no joke. Luckily, there’s a new crop of hilarious international comedians who aren’t afraid to shine a light on the tough issues facing places like India and South Africa – through laughter – and it’s changing the world. Every Monday, we will be showcasing a joke that will hopefully make you laugh, since it definitely made us laugh. This week we’ll hear from one of our American comics, James Adomian.

Do you associate diet soda with manliness? Dr. Pepper is trying to change that, through a new ad campaign to promote Dr. Pepper 10 as a “not for women” drink. Comic James Adomian thinks it’s a ridiculous ploy. We agree.

Take a Stand

Stand Up Planet showcases life in some of the toughest places on Earth – in parts of India and South Africa – through the lens and experiences of stand-up comics. Is comedy the great connector? Stand Up Planet calls on all of us to stand up – to watch, learn and take action to end global poverty.

…to tell Congress you support U.S. foreign aid to end global poverty. Did you know that the United States spends less than 1 percent of its annual budget to end global poverty? By signing this pledge, you’re inviting us to stay touch and let you know the important moments to tell Congress what you think. …to the organizations you’ve just seen in Stand Up Planet who are working on the ground every day in India and South Africa to change lives, one by one.
